In Montana, Christian Foley faced the unimaginable loss of her young son, Landon, after a tragic accident. As the doctors confirmed that Landon wouldn’t survive, Christian made a decision that would impact another family: she chose to donate his organs.
Landon’s organs were sent to Indiana save Maddy Guzman Maya, a young girl who had been battling a rare condition and needed a multi-organ transplant to survive. Thanks to Landon’s donation, Maddy received the transplant she desperately needed, and in April 2016, she got a second chance at life.
Years later, Christian and Maddy met in Indianapolis to thank the doctors who made the transplant possible. Christian, Maddy and family and friends released balloons, each symbolizing life and hope – and Landon’s legacy.
Maddy, now healthy, shared her gratitude. “I’m really thankful that Christian gave me a second chance at life.”
In that moment, Christian and Maddy and her family were reminded of the powerful impact one decision can have, showing that organ donation saves lives and brings hope even in the toughest of circumstances.
